ELECTION 2008: TAKE FROM YOU, GIVE TO THEM

A self-employed plumber in Ohio asked Senator Obama why he, as a productive member of society, should have to hand over the earnings he worked for to someone else.  Obama’s response:  “It’s not that I want to punish your success.  I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success, too.  I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”  No plan for creating NEW jobs or NEW wealth – only a plan to plug a siphon into the money YOU worked for, fill up the can, and give it to someone else so THEY’VE got what you do.  What about that  is “good for EVERYBODY”?  It sure as hell isn’t good for YOU if you’ve worked your butt off to make a few bucks, only to have that taken away from you and given to someone who has simply sat on theirs with hands out.  There is nothing, repeat nothing, ‘good’ about that – unless you’re the person sitting there, waiting for the windfall.

My parents worked their entire lives and I, as a single parent, worked 40 years to provide for the necessities of my family.  I received no Federal assistance and couldn’t even get the price of school lunches reduced  because I earned $100.00 a year too much.  Meanwhile, the cases my mom handled as an employee of the Welfare Department continuously consisted of women with multiple children by as many different men and refrigerators stocked with beer while the kids went hungry.  That’s what Federal hand-out programs did for MY community and I learned then and there, because I lived it, who truly benefits from such programs and I can tell you, it ISN’T working people trying to make a living.

There isn’t one cent in the financial history of my family, including my own, that has not been earned – from pitching wheat daylight to dark to machining parts for the Santa Fe Railway.  No one, repeat no one, is ‘entitled’ to reap the benefits of my family’s labor and it’ll be a COLD day in Hell before I give them that chance.
